1.    How does one join the Sai Satudents Portal?

You need an invite from an existing portal member to join the portal. To request for an invite, reach out to any of your friends or classmates that are already a member of the portal or write to us at http://portal.saistudents.org/pg/issues/add_public.
 

2.    Alumni of which Sai Institutions can join the Portal?

The Sai Students Portal is open to alumni from the institutions named below:

  • Sri Sathya Sai Primary School (Prasanthi Nilayam & formerly at Ooty) - Boys only
  • Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School, Prasanthi Nilayam - Boys only
  • Men campuses of the Sri Sathya Sai University Prasanthi Nilayam and Brindavan (formerly called Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning)
  • Sri Sathya Sai Mirpuri College of Music
  • Sri Sathya Sai Arts & Science College, Brindavan

 
3.    What is an invite mail?

An invite mail is a mail sent from Sai Students Portal by an existing member. It is an invitation to join the portal.

 

4.    Where does one send information to request for an invite to join the portal?

Join Us tab on homepage gives information requirement from alumni for an invite to be processed and sent to them.

5.    What information needs to be given to receive an invite?

If an existing member knows you personally, he can send you an invite without requiring any information from you. However, you can also request an invite by writing to the portal help desk. The help desk would require the following information to arrange for an invite to be sent to you:
a.     Details of courses completed at Sai Institutions: [Campus] + [Year of completion of
        course(s)] + [Course Name] and [Specialization (if any)] – pls add the list of qualifying
        institutions here (from Join Us button)
b.     Names of two staff/faculty along with their designation who can validate you as
        ex-student of Sai Institutes
c.     Student activities you participated in during school/college days

 

6.    Can I join the portal if I have not studied in any of the Sai Institutes?

The Sai Students Portal is currently only open to the alumni members of men’s section of Sai Institutions. Non-alumni are not eligible to join this portal.

 
7.    Why is the Sai Students portal not open to alumni of the women’s campuses of the 
        Sai University and School?

The Sai Students Portal working group has established this portal keeping in mind the sensibilities of the Sai educational institutions. It represents a purely voluntary effort, and is not officially endorsed by the Sai university. Even so, the working group hopes the portal will serve as a useful platform to strengthen the close bonds between the Sai university and its alumni. To ensure seamless integration with the university (whenever it happens), the portal has been established on similar principles of gender wise segregation.
 
Since the working group comprised alumni solely from the men’s campuses, it hasn’t been in a position to build a portal for women. The restricted access for women is an outcome of this limitation, and is in no way a willful attempt to discriminate against or exclude alumni from the women’s campuses. We are hopeful that women alumni will start a similar portal at the earliest for their own use.

 
8.    Can I join the portal if I am still studying at the Sai Institute?

Membership to the portal is open only to those who have completed their studies at Sai Institutes. If you are still studying, you will have to wait till you have completed and passed the course.

Currently studying/researching students are also not eligible for membership on the portal.

 
9.    I have been teaching at Sai Institute. Can I join the portal?
                                             OR
       I am a visiting faculty at Sai Institute and want to become member of the portal.

Currently the portal is open only to alumni of men’s campuses of the Sai institutions. If you have never studied at any of the said institutions, you are not eligible for its membership.

10.  What is a username?

A unique id on the portal is also known as username. Username is created at the time of account creation and is used by member to log into the portal.
 

11.  How many characters should be there in a username?

Minimum of 4 (four) characters is required to create a username.
 

12.  Which characters can be used in the username?

All characters of English alphabet – both small and capitals and numeric digits can be used to create a username.
 

13.  Which characters cannot be used in the username?

Spaces, dots (.) and special characters cannot be part of username.

 
14. What is password? How long should be the password?

Password is a string of characters. Each username has a password attached to it which was created at the time of account creation. Password, along with a username, gives access to a unique account on the portal.

A password should at least be 6 (six) characters long. It can have alphabets, numeric digits and special characters. It is case sensitive so capital characters are different from small alphabets.

15.  I have received the invite mail. What do I do now? 
                                           OR 
        How do I use the invite mail to become a member on the portal?

The invite mail contains a link. Clicking on the link will take you to account creation webpage. This page cannot be accessed without the link. 

Account creation page requires user to fill in his Name, Email-id, Username and Password. Once these details are filled in correctly and a unique Username selected, saving the details creates an account on the portal. 

The account, now, has to be validated. 

On creation of account, portal sends a mail to the given email id for validation of the email id and the account. The validation mail has a link which, when clicked, validates the account.
The next step requires the user to complete 6 stage registration process. To start on the process, go to home page of the portal (http://portal.saistudents.org) and log in with userid and password.
 

16.  I have created the user account. Now what do I need to do?

After creation of account, portal sends a mail to the given email id for validation of the email id and the account. The validation mail has a link which, when clicked, validates the account.
The next step requires the user to complete 6 stage registration process. To start on the process, go to home page of the portal and log in with userid and password.
The registration process asks for following details:
a.     Basic
b.     Personal 
c.     Professional/Business 
d.     Academic
e.     Seva activities
f.     Acceptance of the Terms of Use
 

17. What is the home page of the Portal?

Home page of the portal is http://portal.saistudents.org.
 

18. I have logged in but it is taking me to another form. What is this form?

Have you completed registration process? This process starts after completing the account creation process and validating the account. If you have not completed the six stage registration process, as soon as you log in, portal system will take you to the registration process left incomplete. E.g if you left registration incomplete at stage 3, on logging in, you will be taken to stage 3 of registration process.
 

19.  During registration, I did not find my course in the course list shown by the drop down
        menu. What should I do? 

If the combination of Campus + Course Name + Year of completion of the course + Specialization is not available in the drop down course list, you can suggest a course. Click on the link attached to the sentence “Do note that if you cannot find your course, please add it by clicking on this Link”. 

Note: It is mandatory to give at least one correct course details in Academic Details stage, to be able to go to the next stage of registration.

20. I have forgotten my username. Where should I write in to get it?                                          
                                           OR
I have forgotten my username and am unable to log in.

Write in to admin@saistudents.org from the email id given as primary email at the portal. The subject line should be “Forgotten username”. After matching your email id with the stored email id in portal database, Portal Admin will mail your username to you.
 

21. I have forgotten my password. How do I retrieve it?

Password is stored encrypted in portal database. We will not be able to retrieve it for you. You can generate a new one using the Lost Password feature on home page. Password can be changed after logging in.
 

22.  Why am I not able to log in?

You might not be able to log in after entering username and password for any of the following reasons:
a.      Username might not be correct
b.      Password might not be correct
c.      You might not be a member of the site

If you face any trouble logging in, write in to admin@saistudents.org or by clicking on the Contact Us link on the bottom right hand corner of the portal home page.
